ABSTRACT |
Film education policy in Japan and colonial Korea from 1925, when the Keijo-nippo first featured a section about movies. the Japanese Ministry of Education adopted film policy as a means of education, but failed due to the lack of agencies to promote the policy. The policy to use film in education was also introduced to colonial Joseon by Japanese government officials who incubated the policy as the Second Joseon Educational Ordinance was announced. The bureaucrats of the Government-General, who perceived the importance of establishing educational administration network through a previous failure in Japan, established the Keijo-Education Committee as a body strongly linking the Government-General and all schools in Joseon. The introduction of a movie section to the Keijo-nippo was a device to back up the film policy of the Government-General’s office as well as a plan to enhance readers’ ability to comprehend film.
