| ABSTRACT |
|
This paper focuses on the expressive content of Zoku Sinajihenkasyu” [“Sequel:Poetry Anthology on the Second Sino-Japanese War”], published in Tamsui Gakuen during the second Sino-Japanese War. By comparing this text with several other such Sinajihenkasyu or poetry anthologies published in Japan during that war, this study will clarify the peculiarities of the mode of expression of Zoku Sinajihenkasy. It will also demonstrate that its distinctiveness stems from the geographical peculiarity and historical background of Taiwan, and show that Zoku Sinajihenkasyu is a text that nullifies the boundary between the battlefield and the homefront, which was manifested in several Sinajihenkasyu published in Japan during the second Sino-Japanese War. Finally, based on the above, the paper will show that the Taiwanese education in tanka was closely connected to the educational curriculum on imperialism in terms of the forms of textual expression employed. |
