| ABSTRACT |
|
This paper is comprised of the reproduction of four months of Torao Tago’s diary, which in total covers the six years from 1940 to 1945. Tago became famous after his play won second place in a creative writing contest sponsored by the magazine “KAIZO” in 1931. This period is covered in the diary, from July to October 1943.
During this period, he had been working busily every day as the Director of General Affairs Department of the “Ido Engeki Renmei(The Mobile Theater Alliance移動演劇聯盟)”. Perhaps because of this, his wife had been growing increasingly dissatisfied with his frequent absences from home, and he was concerned about it. Meanwhile, factional conflicts were also arising at his workplace. In order to mend his relationship with his wife and regain control over his work life, he decided to resign. This is what is written in the diary up to this point. |
